Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has just been picked up by ABC and tonight is your chance to view the first preview trailer. During the season finally of Once Upon a Time a teaser for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air, so check your local listings.
There's no real saying over what the series will consist of however the official ABC description of the series is
"Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television."
Prior to being ripped from the Internet by Disney, the preview managed to sneak online a couple of days ago. The preview went on to showing Abomination's destruction of Harlem from the Incredible Hulk with the water mark "Rising Tide." There is a picture of someone named Skye and being labeled as a possible collaborator. One might also wonder if the series is set to tie the MCU together just a little bit tighter and maybe introduce concepts that will later be used in the movies.
Let me introduce you to your Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.

TMNT in the Streets
Pictures seem to be popping up all over the internet from the set of Michael Bay's TMNT reboot.
The film was hit with extreme prejudice when it was first announced that Michael Bay himself would be helming the reboot. Later as time progressed we would learn that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were not mutants at all and would drop the 'Teenage." Shortly before the film was silenced and deemed postponed until further notice, we learned that the turtles were actually aliens rather than mutants and the title was simply "Ninja Turtles."
Through small corners of hope I heard it was leaked that the original script called for the turtles to actually come from Dimension X, which is core to the turtle mythology.
I have always enjoyed Michael Bay films and the Transformers movies remain some of my favorite movies of all time. I held strong and had faith that we would not be let down. I know that Michael Bay always seemed to lead a campaign of misinformation in order to keep his projects secret. Even on the set of Transfomers 3 he kept repainted versions of the Twins from Transformers 2, the duo that helped the movie, yet they were never in Dark of the Moon.
As the set images come in we still do not have a lot of information of how the movie will play out but below are a few pictures that will tell us more.
First and foremost, we have Megan Fox casted as April O'Neil. While Megan Fox would not have been my first choice, I do believe she will be a decent choice.
When she was removed from Transformers 3 for some comments she made and then reconciled with Michael Bay I figured we haven't seen the last of this combo and here we are.
April O'Neil has a signature look of red hair and a yellow jumpsuit, made famous from the 1980's cartoon series. That look has carried on and here she is with tinted red hair and a yellow jacket. Modernized for today's look I fully accept the yellow jacket. I mean, it's partly how we know she is supposed to be April. Her hair, not so much. Megan Fox has brown hair and since it is only tinted we don't get the feeling that April is the redhead that we all know and love.
Ofcourse a few other things we can take from this picture is that she is standing behind a news van. Yes, that's right, I'm going to make the assumption that April O'Neil will be a news reporter rather than other recent iterations of her that we have seen such as a high school student or a scientist. Also take note that the van has a New York license place also leading to believe that yes, just like the core material, it will take place in New York City. (If it didn't I would lose all faith in humanity.) Lastly, although you cannot see his face, the person facing her is comedic actor Will Arnett. Will Arnett has been recently listed as playing Vernon Fenwick, April's camera man and rival news reporter, further insisting our core material to be the 1980's cartoon canon.
Fellow SNL alumni Abby Elliot is also listed as being casted for an unknown role. My guess is she may bring April's sidekick Irma to the big screen for the first time.
Here we have the new Foot Clan. As you can see some liberties have been made but I don't think it really detracts from where they come from. You can see in comparison to the original TMNT movie there is quite a difference as they now wear some kind of armor. The face masks are even different, however now they lend the idea that they actually originate from ancient Japan. The poles they are carrying don't have anything to do with armament (I hope) but are more of what you find your local dog catcher using (more on that later). Overall, I think the new look for the Foot Clan brings them up to date however unlike the 1980's cannon I don't have a sense that they are robots and with the new appearance, they look more like thugs.

In this picture we see some more Foot Clan with some assault rifles in the top left. It makes me wonder if the Foot Clan will lose it's history as being a ninja clan in lieu of a clan that offers a protective detail and attack force for the Shredder. This picture also shows the Foot Clan operating during the day time so that also leads me to believe that they may not operate under the cloak of night. Lastly in this picture we see 3 motion capture suits with shells so that means only one thing, they've taken the turtles!
This is yet another very telling picture to me as far as the plot is concerned. We see three motion capture suite turtles shackled. We now see why they have the poles. We also see elaborate shackles for their hands and feet which would prohibit movement for the turtles. Looking even close we can tell which turtles have been taken hostage, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello. Motion capture suits also create a wire frame based on points located on the suit. Looking at this picture, I notice Donatello will have a smaller frame than the rest of the turtles, which tells me that he may be on the lankier, nerdy side we see in the new TMNT cartoon or he may actually be a she! Yes, part of the problems with the first bit of information is that Donatello is actually Donnie, a sister turtle. Of course we won't know that until we actually see mock ups of the turtles. Last but not least, we only see three turtles, not four, and the only one missing is Raphael, who may have escaped capture if not captured previously.
Lastly I want to leave you all with this. The reboot eventually dropped it's name to simply Ninja Turtles, which was too broad of a title and left a lot of room for liberties that were taken. In the end it still seems some liberties may have been taken however so much has stayed true to it's core so I am remaining with high hopes. With the outcry of fan disapproval they pulled the movie back for rewrites and made changes however we will not know for sure until the movie goes to press. What I can give is faith restored that, as if a backwards pedal, even the initial title has been restored!

Can Mutants Exist Inside the MCU?
Avengers 2 is set to begin filming early next year and amidst all the rumors and information coming out, two new characters will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.
Both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are owned under the movie film rights by Fox who owns the X-Men movie franchise, however bot characters have been deeply rooted into the Avengers for decades. Because of this Marvel also has the rights to use them in the MCU, with stipulations of course.
In order for both muties to appear in the MCU there cannot be any mention of them being mutants or of their father Magneto.
Both of these stipulations really strip apart who these two characters are. Everyone always wants to know how a character obtained their powers. In a mutant's case they were born with a change in their genetic sequence activating the "X" gene which is a mutation, hence mutant. As it was pointed out in X-Men 2 from Fox, the mutation is normally handed down by the father, in this case Magneto.
So on a broader scope, can mutants actually exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The MCU seems to take heavy influence from Marvel's Universe 1610, better known as the Ultimate universe, for example changing Nick Fury to African American and using the Chitauri to invade Earth rather than the Skrulls.
Inside the 1610 universe Steven Rogers was not the first to undergo Project Rebirth and receive the super solder serum, it was two solders, African American Nicolas Fury and Canadian James Howlett. Sent to separate facilities Howlett was sent to a facility in Canada that would later be dubbed the Weapon X facility. While inside the Weapon X facility the Canadian government created a new mutated genome that would later spread across the globe giving us mutants. Howlett, aka Mutant Zero, would late be freed from the facility by another mutant Erik Lensherr, aka Magneto, who's parents co created the new genome giving rise to the mutants or also known as within the universe "super humans."
The MCU now has a way to describe mutants and provide a bit of an origin story for Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. Simply both would be described as being super humans rather than mutants and can establish that, for lack of a better term, born that way. There is no need to mention Magneto being their father as both were adopted by a family of gypsies.
Bringing about "super humans" into the MCU, the universe will be that much bigger. Already filled with Gods and aliens the world will be a richer place for these characters to dwell, one that will feel like home with the fans, and it will be Marvelous!

The Cry of Hordak
Yesterday Mattycollector secretly released a new figure in it's store causing controversy and much outcry.
First let me take you back to 2012, to the New York Comic Con. Mattycollector was present and revealed the Masters of the Universe Classics (MOTUC) figures that we would see through the first quarter of 2013. On the last day a solitary item could be seen that would cause speculation, a white Horde crossbow. We all knew Mantanae would still be to come; however a white crossbow belonged to vintage Hordak. So who did this belong to or was a new weapons pack on the horizon?
Yesterday that question was answered when Mattycollecter silently put up for sale the Spirit of Hordak.
The concept for the Spirit of Hordak figure comes from the mini comic "The Secret Origin of Skeletor." In the mini comic Hordak's physical body is trapped in the dimension of Despondos and can only project an astral image of himself to contact the precursor to Skeletor, Keldor.
Keldor will later strike a deal with Hordak to release him from Despondos in exchange for saving his life.
For the lucky few who have managed to snag one they were greeted with "Congratulations! By magic or by luck, you’ve found a secret figure! "
"This all-clear figure features painted red eyes, chest emblem and removable armband, and comes with a fan-demanded Hordak® cross bow in vintage white. Trust us, this visitor from the dark dimension is up to no good… but you’ll have to get the figure to see his complete bio. Straight from the 2013 mini-comic, “The Secret Origin of Skeletor,” this highly collectable figure is not available with Club Eternia® subscriptions or even during regular monthly sales, so make sure you check back often to try to catch him the next time he decides to project onto this page! "
The back of the card for the Spirit of Hordak was briefly up which also showed his bio (oops). After a short period of time the card back was removed from the website. His bio is available online, but that is part of the fun.
The Spirit of Hordak was only available online for about 40 minutes and then after being listed as "Sold Out" fans were greeted with a note that said "You're too late. Hordak is back in hiding."
There has been an outcry over how such a release was handled as sub holders, upon purchasing a sub, was told that they would get early access to figures ahead of time if the were not part of the subscription. Many fans cried foul, that such a release was in violation of Mattycollector's own subscription agreement; however the majority of the response comes from people saying how great of an idea this was as not only to drive traffic back to it's website but also to bring excitement back to the MOTUC line and has not put everyone on a Hordak watch.
Kudos Mattycollector! This was a genius idea and a lot of fun. While I missed out on the sale at the website I will be on my own Hordak watch.
Toyguru of Mattycollector has in the forums stated that the Spirit of Hordak will be available again in the future and through the Early Access program so fear not, Hordak will return. ....which may be a reason to fear it's self.
